Abstract
To assess the influence of the injury volume of the effectiveness of radiofrequency catheter ablation ofparoxysmal atrial fibrillation, experiments were carried out on 47 mongrel dogs; 43 patients aged 52.4±10.2 years (27 men, 16 women) with medically resistant paroxysmal atrial fibrillation were examined and treated.

Abstract
To compare effectiveness of computed tomography, angiography of the left atrium and pulmonary veins, intracardiac and transesophageal echocardiography in patients referred for the radiofrequency ablation procedure because of atrial fibrillation, fifty patients (19 women and 31 men) aged 56.4±11.3 years were examined.

Abstract
To assess the early and late outcomes of the cardiac resynchronization therapy, 42 patients aged 49.3±5.5 years with chronic heart failure of functional class IIIIV including 22 ones with the sinus rhythm and 20 subjects with atrial fibrillation were examined.

Abstract
To study peculiar features of heart rate turbulence in patients after myocardial infarction and their interrelations with other known risk factors of sudden cardiac death (depressed left ventricular ejection fraction, heart rate variability indices, extent of coronary artery injury, and number of ventricular premature beats), 111 patients aged 64.1±10.5 years (84 men and 27 women) were examined.

Abstract
To study the time of the atrial contractile function recovery, peculiar features of atrial remodelling, and factors affecting the duration of atrial stunning in patients with idiopathic atrial fibrillation after the sinus rhythm recovery, 33 patients with idiopathic persistent AF (20 men and 13 women) aged 48±2 years after the sinus rhythm recovery by electric cardioversion.

Abstract
To assess the risk of thromboembolic events and adequacy ofprescription of Warfarin in patients with atrial fibrillation of a non-valvular origin available upon admission to specialized hospital, an analysis of hospital charts of1007 subjects (559 men and 448 women) aged 63±12 years was carried out.

Abstract
To study influence of an III class antiarrhythmic Cardiocyclid on the spectral characteristics of the heart rate variability in animals with different types of the emotional stress response, experiments were made on outbred male rats with the body mass of170 200 g.

Abstract
The risk of sudden cardiac death in athletes and its correlation with myocardial hypertrophy are analyzed; up-to-date algorithms of examination of athletes are provided.
CASE REPORTS
63-65 113
Abstract
A case report is provided of the radiofrequency catheter ablation offibrillation nest located in the right atrium of a 18 year old patient with atrial fibrillation resistant to treatment with I class and III class antiarrhythmics.

Abstract
Two case reports are given of complication of permanent cardiac pacing by the right ventricular perforation by corkscrew intracardial electrodes with the active fixation.

Abstract
A case report is given of a female patient with combination of arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy of the right ventricle and the long QT interval syndrome, in whom development of live-threatening arrhythmias was related to phase of menstrual cycle.
